Kentucky Children's Garden - or just the creek

Lucy, (Henry), and I went to checkout the Kentucky Children's garden last week, but we never made it past a little creek just inside the gate. Children are allowed to play in the creek and that is exactly what Lucy did. She was soaked in the first 15 minutes. We will have to go back soon and see if we can see the rest of the garden.

Henry 1 month old

Henry is 1 month old! Between Henry being born and Caroline starting school, this has been the fastest month of my life!

We have been overwhelmed by love from our family and friends. Lots of family has been through to come and meet Henry. In his first month, we have had Nana, Papa, Grandma, Grandpa, Ashley, Grandma Dot, Aunt Debbie, Jessica, Aunt Alice, Crystal, and Aunt Katie come through to visit. Henry has charmed all of our guests =)

He has had a few notable firsts - most are parent-driven:
First visit to church (not nursery yet)
First social smile - one day before turning one month old
First cloth diaper - two weeks old
First time sucking his thumb - three days old (though he appeared to be an expert so we suspect this happened a lot in the womb)

Henry is doing one 4-5 hour stretch between feedings at night - still usually 8 feedings a day though. He has outgrown newborn diapers and most all newborn clothes including size 0 shoes! His sandals still fit though. He can be a fussy little guy for the first 15 minutes or so after he eats, but he is easy going in the mornings and easy between feedings at night. He likes to be swaddled at night - well, I'm not sure he likes it, but he sleeps better when he is swaddled =) Henry spits up after most feedings so we keep burp cloths and bibs close by.

Henry is in love with his sisters. He still makes all kinds of contorted faces that keep us entertained. He has what I call a "pterodactyl cry" which I'll describe as a sudden loud, quick cry - almost like a crying yelp. I actually think it is really cute. We are all so in love with him and we are enjoying these days when he is so small and cuddly.

Here is a roll of pictures from his first month.

Henry's first time going to church.

The girls would hold him 24x7 if they could.

Henry ends up laying in my lap a lot when I'm on the floor playing with the girls. He fits quite perfectly in the crook of my criss-cross-applesauce knee.

Our 3-in-a-row! Love them!

Kentucky State Fair

Two weeks ago we went to check out the Kentucky State Fair. We are big fans of the SC State Fair so we had to go see how this one measured up.

We usually don't spend much time checking out the exhibits at the SC Fair, but we took some time to do that (because the rides weren't open yet).

When the rides opened up, we headed that direction.

My Lucy is right at 36 inches so she can ride a good bit by herself. Caroline is well over the next threshold and can ride a whole bunch of rides, but we haven't told her. She is still enjoying these kid rides so we will leave it at that.

There was a roller coaster in the kid area that just went in a small loop, but it was pretty jerky. Lucy hated it. Her expression in these photos says it all. Adam and I were dying laughing and had to stifle our chuckles when she came off the ride crying.

The dinosaur was much better.

And so was the Dora helicopter.
